It was such a pleasure visiting Maui for the Makawao Stampede Rodeo. As the largest rodeo in Hawaiʻi, the event brought together thousands of people from across the world to Upcountry Maui for a day filled with excitement, competition, and community.

It's always great seeing everyone come together at events like this to honor the traditions that shape our state’s unique culture.

This weekend, I attended the 2025 Kohala Reunion and Kohala Hongwanji Bon Dance. It was wonderful to meet the incredible people who make the North Hawai’i community so unique, such as Joe Carvalho, whose involvement and community service have made a lasting impact on Kohala and its people.

Mahalo to Kohala Kūpaʻa for hosting this reunion and for continuing to bring the community together!
