LT. GOVERNOR LUKE CONTINUES ADVOCATING FOR HAWAI‘I FARMERS IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

HONOLULU — Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke will travel to Washington, D.C., this week to continue discussions with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) focused on strengthening Hawai‘i’s agricultural sector.

The visit comes as part of ongoing efforts to address critical issues facing local farmers, including disruptions to agricultural inspections at airports and regulatory barriers that limit Hawai‘i’s ability to export locally grown products to the continental United States and international markets.

Lt. Governor Luke has been a consistent advocate for Hawai‘i’s agricultural industry. She previously led delegations to meet with the USDA in 2024 and again in February 2025, helping to identify federal opportunities and secure additional support and resources for Hawai‘i’s farmers.

She will depart for Washington, D.C., on the afternoon of June 4 and return to Hawai‘i on June 7.
