Lt. Governor Doug Chin attended the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) Federal States Meeting in Washington, D.C., where he met with the nation’s Seconds-in-Command.
During the meeting, NLGA members reviewed a multitude of topics, including the USDA’s work to promote prosperity in rural America, the Administration’s plan for prioritizing the investment in infrastructure throughout the nation, federal initiatives and funding available to states and medication assisted treatment programs, as well as best practices in combating the opioid crisis, and the work of Second Lady of the United States, Karen Pence, to bring attention to art therapy and the sacrifices by military service members and their families. Members also considered policy statements on States’ Role in International Trade; Evidence Based Medical Treatment for Opioids; STEM; Higher Education; Childhood Hunger; Cancer Screening; and Progressive Multiple Sclerosis & Shingles in the Elderly.
The NLGA is instrumental in promoting efficiency and effectiveness of the Office of Lieutenant Governor, fostering interstate cooperation, providing a medium for the exchange of views and experiences on subjects important to the people of the states and territories, and to generally improve the efficiency of state and territorial administration through education on issues and leadership training.
