On Thursday, February 28, Lieutenant Governor Shan Tsutsui visited Hongwanji Mission School to interact with students and teachers, give a presentation about state government, and hold a lively question and answer session.
Nearly eighty students, ranging from second grade to eighth grade, gathered in the Temple Annex where they listened to the Lieutenant Governor share information about the responsibilities of his office, the three branches of government, and the process by which a bill becomes a law. The fun and spirited visit concluded with Lieutenant Governor Tsutsui answering questions from students of the various grade levels.
Hongwanji Mission School was the first school to host the Lieutenant Governor since he was sworn into office. Shan Tsutsui is committed to improving education and establishing effective afterschool programs. More visits to other schools around the islands are sure to follow.
