IAO VALLEY, MAUI — Lt. Governor Shan Tsutsui joined Maui County, National Guard members and Federal Emergency Management Agency Officials on a tour of the devastation caused by flooding in Iao Valley. The Lt. Governor also spoke with residents in the Valley whose homes were severely damaged by the storm. He’s been working to get assistance for the homeowners during their clean-up efforts. Initial assessments put the State and County’s damage estimate at $15 million. About 20 families were directly impacted by the storm.
Iao Valley State Monument remains closed indefinitely due to the damage caused by heavy rain and flooding.
