Honolulu—In observance of Fire Prevention Week, Acting Governor Shan Tsutsui will be presenting a proclamation to the Hawaii State Fire Council.
“It is important for us to recognize our firefighters who risk their lives every day to ensure our safety and security,” said Acting Governor Shan Tsutsui.
“During Fire Prevention Week, we would like to bring awareness to the prevention of kitchen fires. Cooking fires accounted for 44 percent of the total residential structure fires and 25 percent of civilian injuries from June 2010 to June 2013,” said Fire Chief Manual Neves, chair of the Hawaii State Fire Council.
