Democratic Lieutenant Governor’s Association and National Lieutenant Governor’s Association meetings, Washington D.C., March 2013
Lt. Governor Tsutsui attended separate meetings of the Democratic Lieutenant Governor’s Association and the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association in Washington, D.C., from March 19-22. The meetings provided Lt. Governor Tsutsui the opportunity to meet and confer with Lieutenant Governors from across the nation to discuss topics of mutual interest and concern, including health care, education, transportation, and the impact of sequestration on the states.
The meetings included presentations by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Rail Administration, Administrator Joseph Szabo, and White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, David Agnew, among others, as well as visits to the White House, the Israeli Embassy, and the Mexican Cultural Institute.
Lt. Governor Tsutsui also met with members of the Hawaii Congressional Delegation to discuss federal matters directly impacting Hawaii.
