Kahului — Acting Governor Shan Tsutsui kicked off the Maui Fair Parade, which made its way down Kaahumanu Avenue and featured the Baldwin High Robotics Team as grand marshal. University of Hawaii Maui College Chancellor Clyde Sakamoto served as the honorary fair director.
Opening night entertainment featured Sean Naauao and Halau Ka Hanu O Lehua as well as Zenshin Daiko and Hilarious Hypnosis with Joel and Tarah.
Major fair attractions this year included the Chili Cook-Off, Lego Competition, Robotics exhibition, and several talent shows including martial arts demonstrations, the Cheer Spirit Showcase, and student art exhibits. This is the 91st year of the fair.
